


Located in historic and beautiful Mount Dora,
Florida, 25 miles northwest of Orlando, Farnsworth House was built in 1886-1890 by Leander Farnsworth, a shoe merchant
from Michigan. It was renovated in 1944 as an apartment house with seven apartments in the main and carriage houses catering
to "Snow Birds" for their winter stays. The inn is situated 10 blocks from the center
of town, on one and a half acres providing a quiet, secure, and restful setting with ample parking. Farnsworth
House is ideally located for attending the many attractions and festivals of Mount Dora, including the Art Festival, Antique
Extravaganzas, Bicycle Festival, Antique Boat Show, Antique Auto Tour and Renniger's Twin Antique Market. The inn is located
within walking distance of downtown Mt. Dora which boasts many quaint antique and boutique shops and fine restaurants.
Farnsworth House is located within easy driving distance of Central Florida's many attractions.
It is one hour to Walt Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, and Orlando International Airport; 45 minutes to Orlando;
one hour to Daytona Beach and the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts; one hour and thirty minutes to Cape Kennedy.
The Rooms;
All guests of Farnsworth House have access to the
main house living and dining room and a large screened porch. The three suites located on the second floor of the main house are named
after the innkeeper's grandchildren. The suites have full kitchens, private baths, cable TV and are air-conditioned.
Forever Amber: Three rooms including kitchen, sitting room, bedroom and access to a second floor screened porch. Decorated
in yellows and blues with antique mahogany, Ralph Lauren chintz, and Battenberg lace. Queen bed claw foot bathtub/shower. John Joseph: Three rooms including kitchen, sitting room, and bedroom. Decorated in white wicker, Ralph Lauren chintz and
romantic greens and pinks. Antique queen iron bed. Richard Hendrik: Large combined bedroom and sitting room with a day bed. Large kitchen and access to a shared screened porch.
Decorated in blues, whites and mauves, and accented with country decor and antique oak. Queen Bed. |
Two theme efficiencies are
located on the ground floor of the Carriage House. They include private baths, kitchenettes, and air conditioning. |
St. Nicholas: Decorated in red, green, and white, with many handmade crafts and accents
from the Christmas Season. Queen bed. St. Andrews: Decorated in deep, rich green, red and gold tones with accents from the world of golf, a queen size bed and Danish furniture.
